Play 4Kay Was a Success!

The Pirates hosted their annual "Play 4Kay" game against Marshall last week and the results were phenomenal. Not only did a crowd of 3,258 witness the contest, the fifth-largest in program history, but ECU walked away with a 61-57 victory over a very good Herd squad.

Play 4Kay, formerly known as the WBCA Pink Zone®, is an initiative for a nation of coaches to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for research on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The official charity is the Kay Yow Cancer Fund®, in partnership with the WBCA and The V Foundation.

Coach Yow is an East Carolina alumna, so it was an awesome way to honor a woman who made such an impact not only in Greenville, but in nearby Raleigh and across the women's basketball world.

Give a Kid a Smile!

The Pirates took some time out of their schedules recently to participate in the "Give a kid a smile" program. The ladies were there to help kids ease their anxiety levels when receiving dental checkups at Eastern Orthodontics & Pediatric Dentistry in Greenville. Below are some pictures from the day.

Pirate Family Connection

Your East Carolina women's basketball team is set to host UTEP tonight at 7 p.m. Blue Edwards, former Pirate and NBA great, will be there to support his daughters as he is for every home game. The Daily Reflector wrote a feature which looks at the relationship and common bond the twins have with their father. You can read it by following the link below.

During all but one of East Carolina’s home women’s basketball games this season, Blue Edwards has sat in the same spot inside Minges Coliseum — behind the scorer’s table, about three rows up.

Alumni Weekend 2012

We had a great time this weekend welcoming back the people who helped put East Carolina Women's Basketball on the map - our alumni! There was a catered dinner the night before the UAB game and the alums were able to enjoy the battle with the Blazers from courtside seats. The 30th anniversary of the 1981-82 Pirate team, which qualified for the first-ever NCAA Women's Tournament, was also recognized and celebrated during halftime. Check out the pictures!
