ECU Notches 20th Victory with 53-52 Win Over UAB

Future Pirate Brown Sets RMHS Scoring Record




East Carolina women’s basketball head coach Heather Macy prides herself on recruiting the best student-athletes to help the Lady Pirate basketball program reach new heights. Last November, Macy and her staff signed three potential student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. One of the three was a senior guard out of Rocky Mount High School named J’Kyra Brown.
 
Brown is a 5-foot-10 guard who was regarded as a four-star recruit by ESPN HoopGurlz and was ranked the 32nd best guard in the country by the same source after playing only three years of prep basketball due to an injury her freshman year. Still, in just three years on the court, Brown made an immediate impact as she recently broke the Rocky Mount High School scoring record after notching 1,665 career points in the Gryphons’ contest against Wilson Fike on February 1...

Stewart Garners C-USA Co-Player of the Week Honors



Senior Celeste Stewart earned her first career Conference USA Player of the Week honor after an impressive performance last week in which she averaged 18.5 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game, tallied eight assists, and shot 53.3-percent from the field.

Lady Pirates Honored for Academic Achievements


The women's basketball team was honored at halftime of the men's basketball game against UAB earlier tonight for their academic accomplishments. At the end of the Fall semester senior Shala Hodges, junior Kristine Mial, and junior Shawnda Robinson each made the Director of Athletics Honor Roll, while sophomore Dana Jones, freshman Colleen Marshall, junior Katie Paschal, senior Celeste Stewart and redshirt sophomore Kyani White made the Dean's List. Sophomore Tatiana Chapple earned a spot on the Chancellor's list for her academic excellence. Additionally, the team was honored for their overall GPA during the Fall semester.
