Future Pirate Brown Sets RMHS Scoring Record




East Carolina women’s basketball head coach Heather Macy prides herself on recruiting the best student-athletes to help the Lady Pirate basketball program reach new heights. Last November, Macy and her staff signed three potential student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. One of the three was a senior guard out of Rocky Mount High School named J’Kyra Brown.
 
Brown is a 5-foot-10 guard who was regarded as a four-star recruit by ESPN HoopGurlz and was ranked the 32nd best guard in the country by the same source after playing only three years of prep basketball due to an injury her freshman year. Still, in just three years on the court, Brown made an immediate impact as she recently broke the Rocky Mount High School scoring record after notching 1,665 career points in the Gryphons’ contest against Wilson Fike on February 1...
